July’s New Books
Have you ever felt that a book would be just great - even though you didn’t know anything about the author, title or publisher? This happened to me on the way home from the Charlotte Mason’ Institute in Kentucky where we explored the Joy of Making. On my drive home I stopped at a state park with a lovely like to walk and stretch. While at the park I found a huge tree with a cavernous hole, heard a bluegrass band and peeked into the little free library. I pulled out an older book with a library name…. Children of Light by Eyre made it into my hands. Fast forward a few days and I’ve read and enjoyed a previously unknown - but lovely chapter book set near Bethlehem in Ancient times. These books were “rescued” from used book stores (Mr. K’s, Piney Books, The Book Depository), the Friends of the Jacksonville Public Library Bag Sale, A Free Book Sale behind a book store, and Forney Books at CMI.
